iPad2: Taking Care of Business

August 28, 2011, No comments      Categories: Technology

More than just a pretty iPod, the iPad2 can really help you in business.  This video covers the question: "but what do you REALLY do with an iPad?" or is it just a toy? It started out that way, but very quickly it became an indispensable tool for work. This briefly covers just a few things I do such as Word and Excel, synchronize docs with all my computers, voice chat, log in to my work compute remotely, manage social media, and get reports on Google Analytics and Constant Contact, among just a few.
Our Marketing Group is a digital ad agency and has nothing to do with the sales or support of iPads, these videos are just as helpful tips for people looking to get the most from their iPad.

iPad2: What is it good for?

August 25, 2011, No comments      Categories: Technology

A lot of people ask me what I really do with my iPad2. To be honest, it started out as a toy, but almost immediately, it replaced my laptop as a lightweight mobile business tool. We don't sell or support iPads or computers, we provide digital marketing services. These videos are just to be helpful insights for people looking to get more benefit from their iPads.

Some things I would point out to anyone looking for one: While I love my iPad2, the cameras suuu-uu-uuck! 0.8 megapixels. Dat's right Not even a whole megapixel. My key chain has more camera resolution than that!  The other issue is to keep in mind that it needs an Internet connection to be really functional. This means a Wi-Fi connection, a cellular 3G connection of a Mi-Fi card from AT&T or Verizon. I have the 4g LTE and love it. But it is a cost consideration.

Why Email Campaigns?

August 23, 2011, No comments      Categories: Marketing Strategy

Email MarketingWhy should you use an email campaign to market your product or services? Don't we get enough junk mail in our inboxes these days? The simple answer is: email works. Of all the online marketing tools available, email campaigns are one of the most cost effective , aggressive and efficient.

Reach Out and Sell Someone

Emails, as opposed to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or Pay Per Click advertising don't sit around and wait for you to seek them out, they reach out to touch you (or at least your inbox). Like the old cartoon of the vulture "Wait like hell! Ah'm gonna kill me something!", emails are a form of "Push" marketing, seeking out the prospect, instead of "Pulling" them when they happen upon your ad. Studies show that while email is the oldest of the "social medias" it is still the most cost effective. Part of the reason for the growth of social media is that somebody 'owns' Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and all the rest. Therefore stand to make a profit. Nobody owns email and therefore there is no reason to promote it's use. Read more

Why You SHOULDN’T Upgrade to Firefox 6!

August 17, 2011, No comments      Categories: Technology

Mosaic 1993 - Firefox6Not upgrade to a new software platform as soon as it comes out? What!? Am I a Luddite? A Philistine? Negatory, good buddy. (Can you say "Vista?" I think you can!) Nobody loves high tech as much as I. (Well, maybe Steve Jobs.) The problem is not Firefox 6 or even Mozilla. I loved them back in the days when they were… well.. Mozilla. I was a big fan back in the early 90's when they made one of the FIRST browsers, then when they became Netscape, now again when they are once again Mozilla. Great folks. Free software. What's not to love?

Incompatibility?

Glad you asked. For one thing, they are progressing so fast with upgrades that third party developers can't keep up. Just this year alone, they have jumped to version 4, 5 and now 6.  I use Roboform to automatically store my (literally hundreds of) online passwords. Another great product and wonderful for us Alzheimer types. With the use of their Roboform Anywhere, all my browsers (and iPad & iPhone) sync all my Roboform files everywhere, so a single change in Roboform on my desktop gets propagated out to all my Roboforms, in all my browsers, on all my computers. I upgraded on computer recently to use Firefox 4 (I am still using Firefox 3.6x on most computers. I know! Troglodyte.  Yeah. Yeah. ) and immediately get a dialog box saying that Roboform is not compatible (Troglodyte that!). Seeing the announcement that Firefox is now going to 6, I looked on Roboform's site to see they NOW support FF v4.  Okay, that means I can upgrade to Ff4 (if that is even an option anymore.) But I need Roboform way more than I need any need gizmos in a browser. Read more

Project-oriented web design  firm launches full service online marketing agency!

OurMarketingGroup.com

OurMarketingGroup.com

Aimed at medium sized businesses that can't afford a full sized advertising agency, Our Marketing Group is designed to fill the void for companies that need part-time marketing services in maintaining their websites, managing their social media venues, developing graphics, and generally executing and planning their marketing strategies. The spin-off firm has been operating for the last few months and has already signed a half dozen new clients.

"The difference between Metheney Consulting and Our Marketing Group is: if you need a single project, Metheney Consulting is more affordable. If you need long term help with your marketing, Our Marketing Group is much more cost effective. It's the same 25 years of marketing and management expertise, but by signing a longer term contract, we are able to give clients substantial rate discounts because it guarantees billable hours we can use to fill in around our higher rate projects. " quoted president and senior consultant, Paul Metheney. "Everybody wins. We get more billable hours (albeit at much lower rates), and they get professional marketing resulting in higher sales."

Typical tasks include optimizing clients sites for better search engine rankings, developing and executing pay per click advertising, developing CRM systems for prospect management, customizing and managing email campaigns, and scheduling a marketing plan and calendar of coordinated social media posts.
